What I expect in the aftermath of the WWDC 2018 from Apple and the App Store developers.
Inextricably linked with apps are small animals which most aggressive life forms are well-known from tropical areas and called BUGS. Today we have them also massively in temperate zones and they are distributed for free by Apple, Google, and others.
A software bug is an error, flaw, failure or fault in an operating system or an app that causes it to produce an incorrect or unexpected result, or to behave in unintended ways. This is a well-known problem and none of the big companies is able to avoid bugs. But it seems to me that they are also unable to massively improve their internal control system.
So if we install iOS 12 this year the same procedure like every year will start again, or can we trust in Apple’s cast-iron promise to focus on killing bugs.
I think it’s likely that we are faced with bugs we already had years ago. These little animals are an integrated part of an operating system and history tells us that we shouldn’t trust in promises of software companies wether it is Apple, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, Symantec, VMWare, or any other of the biggest software dinos.
Stop giving us new emojis.
Improve the software quality instead.
